A few weeks ago, my husband and I took our three kids for a family outing in Calgary.
We were on our way back from a recent trip to the Yukon, where our two sons, five and six, had visited.
When we pulled up to the parking lot of the Skyline Manufacturing Co. factory in the city’s downtown core, the kids were sitting on a bench, enjoying the cool weather.
They were in high spirits.
The factory employs hundreds of people in its steel and aluminium fabrication plant.
It employs more than 2,000 people.
“It’s been an amazing job,” said Jody, a 24-year-old who lives with her husband and two kids.
“The factory has been amazing.”
The factory makes all of the aluminum used in the U.S. market, from the iconic aluminum boats and submarines to cars, motorcycles and more.
